Very, very slippery out there!!  Dangerous!! It was snowing the entire time.  Was awesome.  Fabulous run in spite of the hazardous conditions!

Swam laps at night.  About 25 minutes.  I lose count of how many laps.  Have to learn to swim freestyle.  Have a triathlon in July.  I should be able to figure it out by then, right?  Well, I don't know......if I can't count laps, maybe I can't swim either!!!  LOL

Roads were so very slushy today.  Slip-sliding everywhere.  Wind was bitter cold.  It was a great run, though.

Rollerbladed for an hour with kids.  Does that count as an additional workout?  Should be playing basketball tonight, too.  Three workouts in one day -- FABULOUS!!!

Shot baskets for an hour.  Not enough people showed up to actually play a game.  Still was a workout.

Went to the gym.  Did speed workout on treadmill and swam 7 laps.  Rewarded myself with 7 minutes in the hot tub!  So tired.  Got home at midnight.

Today was an awesome run.  The wind was bitter cold and very strong.  The roads were so slippery.  Almost fell countless times.  Kept asking ourselves why we were running in such conditions.  Did not see any other runners!  The last 1/2 mile stretch was so tough.  Wind blowing against us.

When it was all over we had a feeling of great accomplishment!  We did it!  Now, hopefully, I can get to the gym tonight and get in some weights and/or swimming.

Played game of church bball this morning then went out for a 65 minute run.  Ran solo.  Listened to audio book...that helped.  Avg mile pace was 9:43.  Happy with that because the first half the run was all uphill and the road was snowy.  Had to be careful.  Dumb dog scared me to pieces.

Bought new shoes. Yesterday was first day wearing them.  Starting the shoe manager to keep better track of wear.  I better start saving $ now.  It seems like whenever I need new shoes there isn't any money and they are so expensive!!!

Going to gym tonight.  Maybe swim, maybe weights, maybe more basketball!

Ran with my running partner this a.m.  Had a great weekend so I talked to the whole time.  It's hard to run uphill and talk!  Weather was a nice 30 degrees.  Minimal or no wind.  AMP was 9:17.  Really happy w/ that.  Mile six was 8:36!!  We are like horses headed to the barn.....as soon as we know we are close to home we pick up the pace!  Not exactly the most flattering of analogies but that's the way it is!

Hope to get to the gym tonight and do some weights, bball, and swim.

ok.....have some questions here!  The Nap Time field.......is that where I document the amount I sleep after coming home from my run and jumping back into bed???  After a shower, of course!  My kids have been off-track for the past three weeks so I would go running, come home and shower and jump back into bed for and hour and a half or two!!!  Then I would fight with the bed monster and finally crawl out of bed around 10:00.  Kids are back in school so I was at work at 9:00 a.m.!!!  Miracle!

And then the weight field.......is that pre-workout weight or post-workout???  lol  You know that post-workout weight is better, so that is the one I am going to use!

I guess it is almost pointless to keep track of miles on shoes when I only have one pair but at least I will know when I should be replacing them for sure!

The run this a.m. was good, but the wind was so bitter, bitter cold!

It took everything I had to get to the gym tonight to do speed workout.  Glad I went.  It was good.  Did 400s at about 7:30 pace!  Haven't ran that fast in a long time.  It was fun.

I don't think it matters which weight you use as long as you consistently use the same one. Although, post work out weight will vary more. Not sure how you can do it with only 4 hours of sleep. I get between 6 and 7 and feel like a zombie half of the time.

Don't know when/if I will get in a workout today.  Might have to triple up workouts tomorrow.  Have a bball game in the a.m.  Don't know if that counts as a workout, though.  It's church ball!

This morning's run was great.  Well, except for the fact that I got to my running partner's house and realized that I forgot my ears.  I used one of my kids beanies that didn't cover my ears!  Thank goodness it kind of kept my hair over my ears.

Came across a running club.  It was cool to see so many people running.

It was a short run today cuz I just didn't have the strength to run up the big hill, but average mile pace was 8:56!!!  Very happy w/ that.

Hope to get to the gym tonight and swim some more.  Have bball practice tonight, too.  No one usually shows up so it isn't always a good workout.

****

No bball practice. No one had keys to get in the church.  Went swimming.  Swam a total of 22 laps.  10 of which were freestyle/crawl.  Have lots of room for improvement.  Friend invited me to go to a Master's swim class at the rec center next week.  I hope it helps.  Otherwise it will be sidestroke the whole way!

How many basketball games do you have? I think there's never enough in the church ball season.

From Missee on Wed, Feb 03, 2010 at 12:04:21 from 75.169.145.5

I think there were only four because most of the wards had to combine to make a team. This is enough for me cuz the games aren't at the level of play that makes it fun.

From Burt on Wed, Feb 03, 2010 at 12:20:04 from 206.19.214.144

The main thing is to try and have fun. I used to go to a stake center and play three mornings out of the week. I started breaking too many bones, so I picked running back up. Best decision EVER!

Never have done Moab, but probably not! :-( I'm pretty booked w/ local races and training for Echo Triathlon. Maybe next year. And next year I want to do this cruise starting in Puerto Rico. It is about six days long and there is a race every day! Sounds fun, just have to save some money!

I have a friend that just came back yesterday from that cruise in Puerto Rico. What fun would that be to do a race series like that! has Echo Tri closed or can you still sign up? Ill have to look into that. I have wanted to do that one for a while.

I was excited for this race.  I had my spiffy neon purple tights and a good night's sleep....what more could I want?

Race started out great!  Felt good going into it, but near the end of the first mile I twisted my ankle on a rock I didn't even see!  It hurt bad.  I could feel it in my toes, but I kept running.  There was a nice guy behind me that asked if I was ok.  I said I was, but I was lying!  It hurt really bad.

The rest of the run was good except in the back of my mind I kept worrying about the ankle.  I think that is one reason I didn't have a kick at the end.

My little runner card said I was 11th overall, but I think that was 11 woman overall.  Don't know for the whole race.

My goal for this race had been sub-23, so missed it by a little.  Better luck for the next 5k, which is Cookie Chaser on April 24!  Wish me luck!

oh my!  Was it hard to get up today or what????  Yesterday I did my run, swam 750 yards and recumbent biked for 15 miles w/ rpm around 90.  I am so tired today I can hardly walk straight!

This morning was an awesome run in spite of my fatigue. Great conversation w/ my running partner.  She is an angel on earth, sent here just to make me run, to cheer me on, and support me!

During the last 1/4 mile running partner started pulling away from me.  I don't know how far ahead of me she got, but it was more than usual.  My competitive nature kicked in and I booked it so hard.  Caught up to her shortly before we normally start our final kick to the end.  I had little to no kick left in me.  When I finally hit the end, I just about dropped to the pavement right there!  Legs were burning!

Now I am at work and my brain isn't functioning!!! :-)

 Only have to swim tonight.

Didn't run this a.m.  Running partner called and I barely comprehended what she was saying.  I got the gist that she was cancelling and I was very grateful.  Very little sleep over the weekend.  Too much fun!

I did bike 15 miles during my daughter's piano lessons.  Swam 950 yds.  Usually don't get to the pool till 11:00 p.m.  Glad they close at midnight.  Forces me to go home!

Went for a bike ride this afternoon.  19.12 miles.  avg 14.7 miles an hour.  There was a lot of wind on the way back.  Burned 911 calories.  I think I need to go eat some of the back! I'm starving!  Now, all I have to do is swim tonight!

This morning's run was good.  So tired.  Need more sleep.  Lost the fight with the bed monster and went back to sleep after running and showering.

Didn't ride bike to work cuz my legs said NO and needed to take the car to the shop for an oil change and to see what has been leaking for months.

Weight loss, or rather lack of weight loss, is depressing.  Been tracking weight since September and can't say I have lost any!!!!  A pound or two here or there but they keep finding me and coming back!  For the past month I have been biking and swimming several times a week in addition to my running.  Hasn't helped.  So, I have come to the conclusion that it is my eating that is doing me in!  Today I will not eat French fries.  Had a chili w/ my combo meal instead.  Is that any better?

Anyway, still need to bike 25 miles tonight and swim 1500 yds.  The question is WHEN???  Might be able to get some miles in while boys are at kung-fu.  Probably will get to the gym at 11:00 p.m. to swim.  Who needs sleep, right?

Oftentimes when we meet in the early mornings, we ask each other why the other didn't read our mind and cancel the run.  So she was hinting to me to cancel.  I was more than happy to oblige as I was uber-tired!

I sent her a text that said, "So sorry, I have to cancel.  I huge purple and green dragon stepped on my pinky toe.  It is the size of a tennis ball.  Can't run today.  Will be good tomorrow."

It made us both laugh as we fell back to sleep!

This was a good race overall.  Didn't get the time I hoped for, but still pretty good.  The weather........well, it was far from ideal!  Rained most of the way, hailed some, and snowed some towards the end.

Did fairly well the first 8 miles.  Ran w/ a friend.  Couldn't have done as well w/o him pushing me along, though he claims I pushed him.  An imaginary bowling ball was tied to my ankle at mile 8.  It was all mental after that.

I was so cold when I finished.  Retrieved my wet clothes that I tied to a pole right before the race started.  Went to my car and changed clothes.  Went back and got the Magleby's breakfast!  That was yummy!  French Toast is so much better than pancakes in my humble opinion.

Next race of great importance is Echo Triathlon......67 days!

I did a "race" in March where the weather was less than desirable all day long. It rained for the majority of the day and then at one point we even had sleet/hail for about 15 minutes. I just kept on trudging along and figured I could at least tell people from now on, "I've ran in a hail storm!"

You had an awesome time, especially considering the horrible weather.

Good luck with the tri! I think I may try to do a mini one next year?? I am going to get a friend to teach me how to swim "properly" and I just went last week to the local bike shop and ordered myself a nice road bike. I'm excited for it to come in so I can actually use it!!!

This race was in Bremerton, WA.  The address listed was just an intersection.  I didn't think it would be too hard to find.  I looked it up on Mapquest!  I got to the area in plenty of time, but there was no race!  My friend and I drove around and around looking and asking people.  No one knew anything.

Finally, I saw some people about 1/2 a block away.  I jumped out of the car and ran through the intersection towards them.  About 30 seconds before I got there, I heard a horn and they all took off running!  The race had started!

I ran up to the few remaining people and said, "Was that the race?"  They said Yes, but the walk will start in just a minute.  I ripped off my sweats and jacket and said that I had already registered and where to pick up my bib #.  A guy just told me to start running and he would get me the # later.  I ran and caught up with everyone and placed 5th overall and 1st woman.  I don't have a time for my race because my Garmin wasn't ready and they didn't post them online.

Now, before you go thinkin' I'm all that and a bag of chips...............there were only 29 people in the race!  LOL  Everyone was so friendly.  The terrain was so different than what I was used to.  Lots of steep up and downs.  It was fun.

This was a really good race for being their first time putting it on.  The sound system was good.  Giving out the awards was fast!  Love having the cards print out at the end.  The cause is a worthy one.  According to the card, my age group was 30 - 39, but Athlinks.com has it broken down differently.  I put my stats according to Athlinks cuz I like that age break-out better!

My only complaint is that the course for the 5k and 10k were the same.  A lot of the 5k people were just walking and made it hard for the 10k-ers to get around them.  It was a loop course, so you had to pass the same walkers several times.

This was the first race in over a year that I have run with my running partner!  I loved having her there, even if she did beat me!  LOL

Had a great run this morning.  Training program called for a Quality Run which I didn't follow exactly, but still turned out to be a really great run!  8:49 was the average mile pace!

That's great news, if you are like me it will make a big difference in your training to have a race coming up that you are excited about.

Today was an amazing run!  Got little sleep, but felt ready to run!  Legs felt fresh.  Was a really neat feeling.  I am sleep deprived 90% of the time so I usually feel dead when I run.  This was so different.  I actually sprinted up a hill!  It was exhilerating!!!

Average pace was 8:43 according to partner's garmin.  Mine said 8:49 so we chose to go with hers!

Wow!  I have really slacked on keeping this thing updated.  I shall repent! :-)

I completed Echo triathlon on July 10!  It was so awesome.  OK, it was very painful at times, but the swim was great!  That is the thing I was worried about most!  My overall time was 3:15 which I am happy with for my first one.  I am really happy w/ my run.  Average mile pace was 8:43.  No one passed me on the run.  The first two miles of the run were extremely difficult.  Had a stomach cramp like I have never had in my life!  It was intense.  After that went away, I just concentrated on picking off the next person in front of me.

I saw a girl in front of me by quite a ways and she started walking.  Decided then that she didn't deserve to beat me, so I picked up the pace and passed her and two others!  Wahoo!!!

Hoping to do Sprint triathlon on August 28.  Just need to find funding!  LOL

Anyway, todays run was nice and slow.  Kinda windy.  Talked the whole way.  Had to tell running partner everything that had since last time we had run together.

Nice run.  Not too fast, but lots of it was gradual uphill!  Excited to start putting in some miles for SGM training.  Started training program for a sprint triathlon in August.  So many races, not enough time or $!!!

Compared to yesterday's run, today's was an Olympic performance.  I was a much better runner today!  It was awesome.  About mile 3 a guy jumped onto the path about 1/4 mile in front of us.  Our competitive nature took over and we picked up the pace and passed him.  Then we ran out onto the pier at Daybreak to enjoy a moment or two of beauty.

Temple Hill killed me today!  Ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but I lost my momentum when I was just about to the top.  Caught up to running partner on the way down.

I really could have used a nap when I was done, but I didn't even let the Bed Monster into the ring!  I won the fight before it even started.  Was early to work.  Took a 10 minute nap in my car!

Now it is going to take me until mid afternoon to become fully awake and alert!

Evening workout:  An hour of intense volleyball!  It was awesome.  Then went to the gym - 20 minutes hard on stationary bike followed by 10 minutes running.  100 crunches.  Would have done some strength training but for some silly reason they close the gym at midnight!

Today was a tough rough.  Kept up with running partner pretty well for the first three miles.  Next four were a struggle.  I would tell myself to keep with her until the next corner or the next traffic light.  Managed to keep w/ her till the end, but had to work for it.

Her garmin showed 8:49 avg mile pace and mine was 9:00 min.  I think I'll go with hers!!!

So tired today.  Need to stop going to the gym at 11:00 p.m. and getting up at 5:00 a.m. to run!  Sleep is an important part of training, too, right???? :-)

Ran in Wyoming where I grew up.

At the bottom of the river bottom hill I caught up with someone.  I really debated whether I should change my route so I didn't have to talk to the othe person.  In the end, I decided to practice my social skills.  I ran w/ the guy for about 1 1/2 miles.  We knew each other's family.  I went for a few more miles after he had turned around.

It was a beautiful run.  Saw deer, sandhill cranes, and lots of cows!  Beautiful weather.  I planned on 8 miles but did 10.  It was so beautiful.  I didn't want to stop!

Oh, Ragnar Vegas is fun!!! You do not need to be motivated at all, just go and have a good time. What runner are you? I was 12 last year and loved it!

Are you going to go do anything fun while you are there? We saw the Blue Men group and it was AWESOME!

Kelli-It was tons of fun! They changed the course this year. Runner 12 had a brutal second leg. What a challenge it was!! Loved it. I had a great van and I ran well. Really, really pleased with my running.

Calvin-The relay was amazing! Thanks for asking. It was my 5th relay and I think it was my best. I said it would be my last, but maybe I'll do another!

The first part of the run was great.  Ran what we call the 90th south course.  With 1/2 mile to go my running partner tripped and twisted her ankle really bad.  She said she felt the pain all the way to her knee!!!!  I feel bad for her.  Her ankle always takes so long to heal!  She is a trooper, though.  Hopefully with ice, heat, elevation and rest she will be back soon!

Today is the beginning of something......not sure what.  I think I am going to do a sprint triathlon in Florida in April.  Might want to start training for that!

It was a great run!  Got lots of talking done!  I am not happy with South Jordan city for locking their bathrooms.  Not happy with Daybreak for removing the Honey Buckets around the lake!!!
